After a month of intensive practice of their multiplication and division tables, third-grade students at the Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center were ready for what has become a highly anticipated event – Fact Frenzy!

On Friday, February 8, students and staff at Wyomissing Hills Education Center celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing as if they were 100 years old. Classroom activities included counting to 100 using different materials and writing essays of what life will be like when the students turn 100 years old.

For the last several years, students in kindergarten through second grade at the Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center have participated in Reading Is Our Thing, a reading program that matches students with books to take home at their precise independent reading level.

Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center recently participated in the Hour of Code, a week-long celebration of computer science and coding. Students in kindergarten through fourth-grade enjoyed grade level computer science activities teaching them the basics of coding

As part of their reading curriculum, third-grade students at Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center recently read Aero and Officer Mike: Police Partners, a true story that follows a day in the lives of a police officer and his K-9 partner.

It was a day of smiles and lots of yellow at Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center as the school community celebrated Yellow Fellow Day, a day set aside to thank the school’s bus drivers for safely bringing students to and from school every day.

During the next few weeks, we are looking for gently used, school appropriate book donations. Book collection boxes are located in WHEC’s lobby.

This year, part of getting our littlest learners set up so they could settle into their routines at the Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center involved the distribution of iPads. For students in third and fourth grades, the distribution rate was one-to-one. In kindergarten, first, and second grade, two students will share one iPad.

At the Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center, students will return to school to find a new “special” class added to the traditional offerings of gym, art, library, and music. STEAM Explorations will give students the opportunity to explore the “Four Cs” of 21st-century skills: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. They’ll also get to explore coding and computational skills, robotics, and circuitry, and use a Maker Space.

It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce Dr. Robert Kucharczuk as the newly appointed Assistant Principal of Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center.  Since Dr. Kucharczuk has been with the Wyomissing Area School District beginning in 2007, he brings a familiar face and outstanding record of leadership to our building as a partner in education whose focus is ensuring your child's success.
